We have noticed that, although The Second Web has become extremely popular within the last weeks and thousand's of domains have been registered, we rarely found any content created on these pages. For your SecondWebsite to become more interesting for our users, you'll need to add some content to them.
If you've created an interesting website on The Second Web, you can e-mail it to highlights@thesecondweb.net . We'll then feature your website in the Highlights Blog, what will most likely drive thousand's of visitors to your site.

We are proud to announce that, after the incredible press attention The Second Web has received within the past days, we took the neccessary steps to integrate a new Domain Type in The Second Web. Users can now purchase domains with the extension ".web" for the same one-time fee of $5,00.

Some News and Updates! (Oct 5 by Julian)
It's been a little while I did not update this blog. There has been a lot going on around The Second Web the last few days. I added a new section "Highlights Blog" to the main browser toolbar. This blog, administered by Leonard Wass, will feature The Second Web's most impressive websites. If you've created a website on The Second Web and want people to see it, just contact Leonard at highlights@thesecondweb.net with your name and website address.
I am also working on a pagerank algorithm for TheSecondWeb that allows users to track their traffic statistics for their SecondWeb Domains. I expect this new feature to be released within the next 2-3 days. There are also a few big media interviews coming within the next weeks, so get prepared for a LOT of traffic to your websites;)
About the 2-day downtime this week: Our site was featured in switzerlands most popular online news portal "20Min.ch". Our servers were not prepared for almost 2000 visitors coming to The Second Web at the same time. That's what caused this website to be down for more than 2 days, but we have now upgraded our technical resources and can easily stand the traffic coming to The Second Web.

Traffic & Domain Sales EXPLODING (September 29 by Julian)
DDOS attacks have been successfully defeated. Due to the massive press interest this site has received within the past hours, traffic statistics and domain sales have exploded! Over 100 Domain Registrations PER HOUR, 1000 Users online constantly. This Site's defenitely kicked-off by now!I'll get back to you with more updates soon!

SecondWeb Under DDOS Attack (September 29 by Julian)
Dear Users, The Second Web has recieved a lot of press attention and traffic in the past days. When I saw the service was not wotking just a few minutes ago, I contacted Theplanet, our server provider, who told us that The Second Web was under DDOS Attack. We are currently in the process of getting the server under cisco ddos protection to ensure best browsing experience.I apologize for any inconveniences.

Milestone: 1000 Domains Sold (September 23 by Julian, Administrator)
It's been a few days I didn't update this blog. I am proud to tell you that over 1000 Domains have been sold within the last days in The Second Web.There will be a few updates coming to the site in the next days. We are planning to integrate the ability to password protect pages, a website hit-counter, statistics and more.
There's also been a bit of press interest lately. I am currently in contact with Journalists that want to write about the project. - Stay Tuned!

Wow! A lot of Domains! + Updates (September 21 by Julian, Administrator)
Wow! Nice Statistics for the first day after The Second Web launched. Over 20 Domains (not that much, but pretty good for the first day, not?) have been sold.I also created a little batch that allows fans & website owners to link to The Second Web.

The Second Web Launched (September 20, 2008 by Julian, Administrator)
So I had this little idea the other day. I have been looking for a good domain for a web business I was looking to start. After hours of search, I realised that almost 99% of all good domain names have already been registered by someone else. I had the idea of building up another world wide web, with all domains availible again. That's when the Second Web was born.
We've spent the last few weeks and months planning and building the Second Web, programming the back-end, preparing press texts, and so on...
I think that this is something crazy enough to work! Domains are USD 5,- each for a lifetime, with everything included - From Web Hosting to Whois Privacy.
